About the presentation:
Cleansing and detoxification programs have become highly popularized due to the growing concerns of toxins in our food and environment. From the heavy metals in the fish supply, to radiation, hormones in livestock, pesticides, we must realize it is not IF we are toxic but rather HOW TOXIC are we. Although our bodies are equipped with “machinery” to eliminate toxic compounds, after constant heavy exposure these processes start to decline, leading to toxic buildup in the body. Accumulation of toxins have the potential to affect all body systems, and can contribute to many of the diseases so ubiquitous in today’s modern world, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, liver disease, gastrointestinal concerns, autoimmune, and obesity.
Come join Dr. Stacey Kupperman, licensed Naturopathic Doctor, and Katherine Nilbrink, Whole Foods’ Healthy Eating Specialist while they share some simple detoxification secrets you can incorporate into your everyday routine without having to go on a “detox”. Katherine will demonstrate how to cook some delicious detoxifying dishes, while Dr. Kupperman reviews the basics to healthy detoxification, including:
∗ Overview: what, why, and how of detoxification.
∗ What does it mean to detox and what is the goal?
∗ What organs are involved in detoxification?
∗ Is detoxifying safe?
∗ What foods have detoxifying properties
∗ Simple ideas to detoxify every day, without going on a “detox”
